Samples

Below please find some before/after samples. We do a lot of work with drum-only audio, and it is some of the most challenging material to clean thoroughly without adversely affecting the original audio. So you will notice that many of the below samples are drum-focused.

HTML5 embedded samples below are provided in OGG format, which uses lossy compression. You can manually download files in lossless WAV format if you prefer. We strongly recommend listening on headphones to hear all the nuances.

Tavi Sojo  -  Almost There - Episode 1

There were all sorts of problems with this location sound, and the problems changed abruptly from section to section, as well as gradually over time. (You can view the final video here.)

DJ Krinjah  -  [Title Unknown] (10" Acetate)

This disc was badly damaged when we got ahold of it. After some Mhastery TLC it sounds good as new.

Al & Mary Johnson  -  "I'm Going Back" (78)

This record was recorded at a San Francisco music store in 1947. We are posting it as an example of the benefits of equipment selection and restoration. The "before" clip is the record as the client had been listening to it for years. The "re-digitized" clip is the same record as digitized from our carefully selected source equipment, without any alteration. The "after" clip is the fully restored version.

Charlie Stalzer  -  The Voice Of Your Man In Service (Acetate on Cardboard)

This priceless family heirloom featured a recorded message from a soldier to his family during WWII. The fragile, cardboard-based disc actually had a hole punched clear through the audio track (click thumbnail to view). We were able to restore everything that was left, piecing it back together digitally.

Jacques Loussier (Play Bach Trio)  -  "Concerto In D Major: Allegro" (LP)

Loussier's piano and André Arpino's staccato hi-hats emerge unscathed from beneath crackle and hum.

Hoagy Carmichael  -  "Hong Kong Blues" (45)

This record was thoroughly painful to listen to, with clipped hot spots and sizzle throughout. Our restoration shifts the focus back to a great musician, where it should be.
